Titans coach Brian Callahan gives injury update on CB L'Jarius Sneed from NFL Owners Meetings
USA TODAY Sports

PALM BEACH -- Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan met with media at the NFL's Annual Meeting on Monday morning to speak for the first time since last month's scouting combine. Among the topics discussed, was the status of cornerback L'Jarius Sneed.

Sneed ended the 2024 season on Injured Reserve after being traded to the Titans from the Kansas City Chiefs.

Titans expect L'Jarius Sneed to be ready for training camp

Tennessee's biggest acquisition last offseason, Sneed was only available for five games in his first year with the team.

A bizarre, persistent quad injury sustained in October kept him off the field. The Titans placed him on IR about one month later. Speaking with reporters in the locker room this January, Sneed said the issue required a surgical procedure and a bone marrow injection as doctors tried to discern why there were additional complications.

Callahan on Monday is confident about their star corner's return to play.

"(Sneed) should definitely be ready for camp," said Callahan. "He's moving right along in the rehab process. He's been around in the building, so that's been good to have him, to see him. He's been around almost every day. I think he's in a good space. I think he's ready to show that last year was something...that he was trying to prove that he's still one of the best corners in football. That's a good place for him to be."

Callahan was unsure if Sneed was currently clear to begin running again as of Monday.

Tennessee could certainly use the help in its secondary. Sneed's injury was compounded by fellow 2024 starting corner signing Chidobe Awuzie appearing in only eight games due to injury. The team release Awuzie this month one season into a three-year, $36 million deal.

Callahan also added that former 2022 first-round wide receiver Treylon Burks is not expected to be ready for training camp this year as he recovers from an ACL repair surgery.
