Earlier this month, Ifeatu Melifonwu  worked out for the Seahawks. No Seattle deal was agreed to, but the veteran safety has managed to line up another audition.

Melifonwu has taken part in a Tuesday visit with the Titans, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports. The sixth-year veteran has been a free agent since his Dolphins contract expired in March. Melifonwu took a one-year, $3MM deal last spring to head to Miami.

A similar pact can be expected in this case for 2026. Melifonwu struggled with injuries during the first and last seasons of his four-year Lions run while playing out his rookie contract, but he totaled 14 starts with Detroit. Last season, the 27-year-old appeared in 16 games while making eight starts. Melifonwu set a new career high with 53 tackles while adding one interception and one sack.

Amani Hooker is under contract with Tennessee for the next three seasons thanks to his 2025 extension. A starting role awaits him once more for the coming campaign as a result. 2025 third-rounder Kevin Winston Jr. made six starts as a rookie, and he could be in line for an uptick in usage with Robert Saleh and a new coaching staff in place. The Titans also added Tony Adams in free agency, giving them another option with first-team experience. Tennessee did not make any investments in the secondary during April’s draft after a cornerback spending spree in March.

The Titans have nearly $50MM in cap space, the second-highest figure in the NFL. A low-cost Melifonwu signing would certainly be feasible, so it will be interesting to see if today’s workout produces a contract offer.
