Titans' JC Latham Reveals 'Embarassing' Moment That Led to Big Change

The Tennessee Titans took a major gamble in the 2024 NFL Draft when they selected Alabama right tackle JC Latham with the No. 7 overall pick. While his rookie year was solid enough, he lacked the star power that most Titans fans expected him to have.

Part of the issue was that Tennessee's offense lacked a sufficient answer at quarterback or wide receiver, outside of Calvin Ridley. Still, Latham ranked in the middle of the pack among offensive tackles, according to Pro Football Focus.

This offseason, Latham has been making several major changes, as fans have noted his physical transformation.

On Wednesday, Latham spoke with ESPN's Turron Davenport about the major change he underwent this offseason. According to Latham, it was sparked by an embarrassing moment from the 2024 NFL season.

"Leading into that Houston game, I was probably my heaviest, and I just felt a lot slower," Latham said. "It was embarrassing for me. That's when I had to talk with (offensive line coach) Bill (Callahan) just about the level of standard we want to play at."

Latham is expected to make a major jump in his second professional season. With Cam Ward being an upgrade under center and several young pass-catchers being added into the mix, the offense should be better as a whole, which always makes life easier for the offensive line.

Both running backs Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears are expected to be fully healthy as well, and much of the offensive staff was retained in Year 2 under head coach Brian Callahan. All of these are good signs as Latham heads into his second season with a new approach.
