The Tennessee Titans have done a great job of rebuilding the roster this offseason under first-year general manager Mike Borgonzi. After winning just three games last season, massive changes were needed, and Borgonzi had brought precisely that.
Obviously, rookie quarterback Cam Ward is the crown jewel, but the team made a slew of sneaky-good free agent additions as well. Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson dramatically raise the floor of the wide receiver room, and veterans like Dre'Mont Jones and Cody Barton are just what the defense needed.
However, the Titans still have plenty of holes in their roster. This especially pertains to the defensive side of the ball and the lack of depth that Tennessee currently has.
To mitigate this, the team put in a claim on the waiver wire for a former Vanderbilt linebacker. On Wednesday, they were awarded the rights to Anfernee Orji, who should immediately figure into the team's linebacker rotation.
Orji signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 2023 after playing his college football in the state of Tennessee. He spent his entire rookie year on the practice squad, but last season, he played in 16 games for the Saints, totaling 30 tackles, including two for a loss.
He may not be a starter for the Titans this year, but he logged two starts in New Orleans a season ago. It is a bit of a mystery why he was waived by the Saints, but Orji has the opportunity to be a massive piece for the Titans as they rebuild this roster.
