The Tennessee Titans traded defensive back Jarvis Brownlee this week, in a move that confused a lot of fans, leading them to question the motive for the season.
It’s been a difficult start to the season for the Tennessee Titans, who are now 0-3 after the first three games of the Cam Ward era. There are already conversations starting about the safety of head coach Brian Callahan’s job, and questions about the futures of some of their star players.
The Tennessee Titans’ roster is in a difficult position. There are some overwhelmingly expensive contracts on a roster that is trying to rebuild, and a lack of depth at several crucial positions.
The team made numerous moves during the offseason, but so far, things are not clicking for the franchise on the field. Brian Callahan’s seat is getting warm in a hurry, and even if Cam Ward is the solution at quarterback, many feel that tearing it down and starting again might be the best way forward.
The general consensus is that Cam Ward has what it takes, but the team around him is not supporting him or showing enough fight on the field.
This week the Titans traded promising young cornerback Jarvis Brownlee for a late-round pick swap. The Titans got a sixth-rounder, while the New York Jets got a seventh-rounder in the exchange.
TRADE! The #Titans are trading Jarvis Brownlee to the Jets in exchange for a 2026 late round swap, per sources.

Many graded the trade in heavy favor of the Jets, who now get additional depth with a player who is only in the second year of his rookie contract.
Fans questioned why the Titans would trade a young player with almost three years left on his deal for a pick swap, and so far nobody has been able to come up with the answer.
If the Titans are listening to calls for their players, the fan base is starting to feel like that could lead to a complete fire sale.
Have to assume this means a #Titans fire sale is incoming

My primary sell candidates:
-Chig
-Ridley
-Zeitler
-Sneed
-Dremont Jones
-Arden Key
-Jeffery Simmons
-Pollard
Go get capital! https://t.co/u5PBmfchkM
L’Jarius Sneed signed a four-year, $76 million contract with the Titans in 2024, which so far hasn’t worked out at all. The franchise could look to move him to a contending roster, in the hopes of getting some draft capital back for the 28-year-old corner.
Calvin Ridley is another name that could start to gain momentum in rumors of a trade. The veteran is ideally going to be WR1 for Cam Ward, but if that partnership doesn’t blossom he could be one of their most valuable assets on the trade market.
That said, Ridley is 30 years old and signed to a four-year, $92 million deal. Unfortunately, a contract of that size for a player of that age is hard to move, and even if they did move it, the capital they’d get in return would be minimal to compensate for the size of his salary.
I won't call all of these Calvin Ridley plays "drops" or easy catches, but these are all opportunities to make a play and he makes none of them.

He's making "make a play" money. He is clearly a "make a play" talent. That's what makes all the unmade plays so unacceptable. https://t.co/axzOonM5Fz pic.twitter.com/lrJRbhfy8B
Others on the roster who could be acquired include defensive tackles Jeffery Simmons and Dremont Jones, as well as guard Kevin Zeitler.
The fan base is split on the idea of starting to sell off players, which would undoubtedly lead to even worse results on the field in exchange for mid-to-late round draft picks.
Few players on the roster would warrant anything more than a fourth-round selection, and that won’t move the needle all that far for the franchise’s future.
Titans’ head coach Brian Callahan handed over play calling this week to quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree. He said the move will help him focus on his responsibilities as the head coach, in what appears to be a desperate attempt to swing momentum back in a positive direction.
The Titans will play the 0-3 Houston Texans this weekend in a matchup between the two teams at the bottom of the AFC South. If they lose that game and hand the Texans their first win of the season, the pressure on Callahan is going to be intense.
What led #Titans ownership to hire Brian Callahan? He "coordinated" a Bengals offense he did not design, call plays for, and was propped up by Joe Burrow

Callahan moves to 3-17. Two of the wins are against Drake Maye in overtime making his first road start, and Snoop Huntley
Game management and penalties have been a serious issue for the Titans, currently ranking 31st in penalties per game and penalty yards.
Many believe Callahan will be the first head coach to lose his job, and if they lose a couple more games it might not take long.
