Titans' Mike Vrabel roasts Tom Brady ahead of Hall of Fame ceremony

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will be inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame on Saturday and used the occasion to playfully take a shot at former teammate and living legend Tom Brady.

"Tom texted and said congrats and I’m guessing that means he won’t be able to attend," Vrabel said about Brady during a Friday appearance on Boston radio station 98.5 The Sports Hub, according to Chris Mason of MassLive. "He probably has some cosmetic event planned and won’t be able to make it on Saturday morning."

Vrabel and Brady were teammates with New England from 2001 through the 2008 season and helped the organization win three Super Bowl championships over that time. More recently, some speculated in August 2022 that Brady spent 11 days away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that month because he underwent some type of plastic/cosmetic surgery. It's now believed Brady's hiatus and his appearance at that time were actually related to his divorce from Gisele Bündchen after 13 years of marriage.

"I texted him and said, 'Remember when you used to be ruthless and it was just all that crap talking back and forth?'" Vrabel added about Brady. "That’s just why we loved to come to practice every day and work. Guys would be on the show team and talking back and forth and just competing and practicing. I was like... 'When did you change?'"

In fairness to Brady, he's remaining quite busy following a second and "for good" retirement from playing. He's spending his football Sundays studying to become Fox's lead NFL analyst next season, and he's also attempting to purchase a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. As for Vrabel, his Titans lost three of their last four games to fall to 2-4 ahead of their bye week.

Tennessee next hosts the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 29 after 3-3 Atlanta plays at the 3-2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday.
