Titans Not Planning Tony Pollard Trade

As an impending free agent on a winless, rebuilding team, Titans running back Tony Pollard looks like a logical trade candidate as the Nov. 10 deadline approaches. The Titans are not planning a fire sale, though, and have not shown interest in moving Pollard, Tom Pelissero of The Ringer reports.

Teams have contacted the Titans about Pollard, who is playing on a $6.74MM base salary, but general manager Mike Borgonzi has rebuffed them. Even though the Titans are not going to contend for a playoff spot with Pollard on the roster this season, Pelissero notes they value his locker room leadership and believe keeping him would benefit struggling second-year quarterback Cam Ward.

The 29-year-old Pollard came into this season with three straight 1,000-yard seasons on his resume. Pollard was the only real weapon in Tennessee’s lifeless offense during Ward’s rookie season in 2025. The former Cowboy ran for 1,082 yards on 242 carries (4.5 per attempt) and scored five touchdowns.

After going 3-14 and tying for the NFL’s worst record last year, the Titans made aggressive offseason moves to upgrade their roster. Their haul included a pair of receivers in former Giant Wan’Dale Robinson, whom they signed to a four-year, $70MM deal, and fourth overall pick Carnell Tate. Robinson has only totaled 123 yards in four games, but Tate may have had a breakout game in Week 4 against the Ravens. He hauled in nine passes for 145 yards in a 24-16 loss. Despite encouraging signs from Tate, the Titans’ offense ranks dead last in yards, 31st in scoring and 27th in EPA per play under new coordinator Brian Daboll.

Pollard isn’t on as productive of a pace with Daboll at the helm, having run for 221 yards and a TD on 54 totes (4.1 per carry), but there are teams that believe he could help them. While Pelissero leaves the door open for the Titans accepting a “ridiculous offer,” it appears Pollard will ride out the last season of his three-year, $21.75MM contract in Tennessee.

In the event of a Pollard trade, soon-to-be free agent Tyjae Spears and fifth-round rookie Nicholas Singleton would likely get the bulk of the work in the Titans’ backfield. With Pollard in a leading role, Spears and Singleton have combined for just 22 carries this year.
