Titans Pushed to Sign Free Agent With 72-Career Sacks

The Tennessee Titans favored quarterback instead of pass rusher with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While that's an easy decision to understand, the defense only had 32 sacks last season, which was tied for third-worst in the NFL.

It doesn't help that the Titans released Harold Landry III this offseason, who had 9.0 sacks for them last season. Tennessee did take promising pass rusher Oluwafemi Oladejo in the second round of the draft, but it takes time for edge players to develop at the NFL level.

Luckily, there could be a perfect fit for the team in free agency.

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report went through and listed one player every team needs to still add this offseason, and he thinks that the Titans should target four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Matthew Judon.

"After releasing Handry Landry III, the Titans will rely on Dre'Mont Jones and Arden Key to generate a pass rush off the edge," Moton wrote. "Perhaps rookie second-rounder Oluwafemi Oladejo cracks the rotation as a contributor, but Tennessee can add veteran insurance by signing Judon.

"Entering his age-33 term, Judon is past his prime. However, he can still record a handful of sacks for a team that doesn't have a standout pass-rusher."

As Moton pointed out, Judon is getting a bit older, but he played in all 17 games for the Atlanta Falcons last season. He also had 5.5 sacks. It's unlikely he'll be able to replicate the 15.5 sacks he had in 2022, but he's a proven veteran who would at least upgrade the Titans' depth on the defensive line.
