The Tennessee Titans passing game was a problem in their 20-12 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 1. Per Pro Football Focus, Titans receivers dropped four passes.
None was bigger than Calvin Ridley's drop with under a minute to play in the fourth quarter that would have given Tennessee a first down inside the 50-yard line. Instead, the drive ended on a sack-fumble on fourth down two plays later.

During Wednesday's news conference, rookie quarterback Cam Ward chose not to throw his receivers under the bus, saying the team needed to have a "next-play mentality" when mistakes happen.
“I am never going to get on those guys for dropping a ball,” Ward said, via Jim Wyatt of the Titans. “I’m going to throw a pick at some point in the season. So, bad plays are going to happen. The biggest thing is when we get back to the huddle, we have to always have a next-play mentality. I am not too worried about that — those boys are going to catch the ball."
Ward credited the drops and the number of sacks he took (six for minus-50 yards) to the offense needing to get on the same page while playing together for the first time in the regular season.
In his regular-season debut, the No. 1 pick had a quiet day, going 12-for-28 for 112 yards in the loss to Denver. Those numbers were poor, and Ward and the Titans offense face a difficult challenge in Week 2 when they play a Los Angeles Rams defense that held C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans to nine points on Sunday.
Tennessee's offense needs to get on the same page quickly, and choosing not to play the blame game is a smart way not to cause needless division early in the season.
