Titans QB Will Levis had medical procedure that should help improve his game

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis has struggled with nearsightedness for the last 12 years.

Now that he’s in the NFL, the 24-year-old decided to do finally do something about it, electing to have EVO Visian Implantable Collamer Lenses surgically implanted in his eyes last month before the Titans returned for training camp. The Kentucky alum stated the surgery has made quite a difference.

"I've been seeing it a lot better in comparison to the spring," Levis said, via ESPN’s Turron Davenport. "Obviously, I've had more reps at this level now, but the eyesight is a big part of it. … I needed to be really careful with the decision. Being a quarterback, my vision, how I see the field is everything."

Levis had worn contacts during games while playing at the University of Kentucky and in high school. However, he wanted to find a more permanent alternative, because his contacts would sometimes fall out during games.

His vision issues didn’t seem to hamper Levis too much during his two seasons at Kentucky, where he completed 65.7 percent of his passes and threw for 5,232 yards, 43 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.

The 2023 second-round pick played in Tennessee’s preseason opener against the Chicago Bears but missed the team's next two exhibition games due to a lower-body injury he suffered during joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings.

In his lone preseason appearance, Levis completed 9-of-14 passes for 85 yards and an interception. He was also sacked four times and rushed once for six yards.

“It’s nothing too serious,” Levis said at the time. “I’m just going to make sure I take the right steps to get back to the road to recovery."
