Titans RB Derrick Henry remains on injured reserve, expected to return in playoffs

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, but wasn't added to the active roster Saturday. That guarantees that Henry will be out of action Sunday and won't make his return to the field until the Titans are in the playoffs.

Henry, 28, has been out of action since suffering a broken bone in his foot in an Oct. 31 game against the Indianapolis Colts. Despite playing in only eight games, Henry is still sixth in the NFL this season in both rushing yards (937) and rushing touchdowns (10).

The Titans have already clinched the AFC South, but still have plenty to play for in Week 18. With a win over the Houston Texans, Tennessee will secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC and a free pass to the Divisional Round of the playoffs. A loss would open the door for the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, or New England Patriots to climb into the top seed.

In Henry's absence, the Titans have leaned on the combination of D'Onta Foreman and Dontrell Hilliard at running back. The team added seven-time Pro Bowler Adrian Peterson immediately following Henry's injury, but waived Peterson after only three games.
