Jordan Elliott played under Robert Saleh in 2025 and followed him to Tennessee during free agency. The veteran defensive tackle’s time in Nashville is coming to an abrupt end, however.
Elliot has been released, the team announced on Tuesday. Performance was not the driving factor in this move. Instead, a recent off-field matter has resulted in today’s news.
“On Thursday, October 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott,” a team statement reads. “Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter.”
A third-round pick of the Browns in 2020, Elliott played out his rookie contract in Cleveland and became a starter along the way. He joined the 49ers on a two-year pact in free agency, something which set up another run as a full-time defensive presence. The Missouri product logged over 900 snaps during his San Francisco tenure, which included working with Saleh during his second defensive coordinator stint there last season.
During his most recent trip to the open market, Elliott joined other former Saleh players in joining the Titans. He signed another two-year contract, this time worth $8MM. Tennessee included $3.24MM guaranteed at signing, but none of Elliott’s compensation for 2027 was locked in. That will help limit the financial impact of this move.
Through five games this season, Elliott managed 11 tackles while failing to produce any sacks or quarterback pressures. The 28-year-old could be hard-pressed to line up his next gig in short order given his minimal impact while logging a part-time role. The nature of his departure could of course also lead to hesitation on the part of potential suitors.
The 1-5 Titans will continue to be anchored along the defensive interior by Jeffery Simmons moving forward. The team also has the likes of Solomon Thomas and Nazir Stackhouse in place on the defensive line.
