Titans Reportedly Are Interested in Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Sneed

The Tennessee Titans, who are looking to reinforce their pass defense, reportedly have expressed interest in trading for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.

According to USA Today, the Titans are one of seven teams that have reached out to the Super Bowl champions to inquire about a potential trade.

The Chiefs put Sneed on the non-exclusive franchise tag before Tuesday's deadline. Sneed would make $19.8 million for the 2024 season. Tagging Sneed gives the Chiefs until mid-July to negotiate a new contract. If they can't come to an agreement, the Chiefs and Sneed have until the midseason trade deadline.

Tagging Sneed means the Chiefs would get compensation in the way of draft picks from the team that trades for him. 

Pro Football Focus (PFF) gave Sneed a 72.5 season grade, 30th out of 127 NFL defensive backs. He totaled 78 tackles, 14 passes defended, five tackles for loss, two interceptions, and recovered a fumble. 

The Titans' offseason priorities are offensive line, wide receiver, and defensive backs. In 2023, Tennessee graded 26th of 32 teams in pass coverage, according to PFF, and managed only six interceptions.
