Titans Sign C Andre James

The Titans have been busy making moves today. After signing defensive end Jalyn Holmes, the team has now added center Andre James, per Jim Wyatt of the team’s website.

James brings plenty of starting experience to Tennessee. The former UDFA out of UCLA started 60 games in six seasons with the Raiders organization. He spent his first few years in the league serving as mostly a backup, but he emerged as a full-time starter between 2021 and 2024. Pro Football Focus was never particularly fond of his performance over that stretch, although they did rank him ninth among 36 qualifying centers in 2023.

The 29-year-old was cut by the Raiders last offseason and he quickly caught on with the Chargers. He only started one of his 17 appearances in Los Angeles, with his 84 offensive snaps representing the lowest total of his career (other than his zero-snap showing as a sophomore).

James will likely face an uphill battle to make Tennessee’s roster, as the team already added two players at the position this offseason. The team inked Austin Schlottmann to a two-year deal to serve as their temporary starter, and they used a sixth-round pick on Pat Coogan.

In corresponding moves, the Titans waived/injured defensive lineman C.J. Ravenell and released center Trey Hill. Ravenell spent much of the 2025 campaign on Tennessee’s practice squad before he was retained via a reserve/futures contract after the season. Hill inked the same contract with the Titans back in January. The veteran appeared in 25 games (three starts) during his time with the Bengals.
