Titans star RB Derrick Henry could return to practice this week

The Tennessee Titans have been without running back and former Most Valuable Player candidate Derrick Henry since he underwent surgery to repair a foot injury in early November. It was said at the time that Henry could return to the lineup for the playoffs, and head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters Monday that the ball-carrier could participate in practices this week ahead of the regular-season finale at the 4-12 Houston Texans.

"We’ve discussed (opening the practice window)," Vrabel explained, according to John Glennon of All Titans. "We’ll see where that goes. You know, he’s doing some work today and we’ll see when that window (opens). Probably make a decision mid-week."

The Titans improved to 11-5 on the campaign via Sunday's dominant 34-3 win over the Miami Dolphins and, thus, control their postseason fate. Tennessee can clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs and a bye by defeating Houston, which would give Henry an additional week to get right ahead of a must-win game.

Before the injury, Henry tallied 937 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground across 219 carries. Whenever he is designated to return from injured reserve, the Titans will have 21 days to activate him to their roster or shut him down through the playoffs.
