Titans tight end usage could be key to them winning their first game in seven weeks
USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee Titans (1-10) are tracking (again) for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. While winning at any point in the remaining six weeks of the regular season could harm that, it is still important for a young roster to learn how to win.

If I was a Tennessee fan, I'd want to see rookie quarterback's Cam Ward progress in the last two weeks paid off with the rare victory.

Titans MUST win one of two remaining games against the Jaguars

In the “Titans era” (1999–present), the franchise has never completed a regular season without at least one divisional win.

Tennessee has already been swept by both the Indianapolis Colts (8–3) and Houston Texans (6–5) this year. Both games against the Jacksonville Jaguars (7–4) remain on the schedule in Weeks 13 and 18. Ward’s first NFL season was always going to be a struggle, but the Titans have no business being as bad as they’ve been.

Jacksonville presents a get-right opportunity.

Through 11 games, the Jaguars’ defense has allowed an average of 70.8 receiving yards per game to tight ends, with opposing tight ends totaling 779 receiving yards against them. The Titans’ duo of Chig Okonkwo and Gunnar Helm could prove advantageous for Ward, who has strung together better performances throughout November.

Tennessee lost to both Houston and the Seattle Seahawks over the past two weeks, but Ward completed a combined 52-of-79 passes for 450 yards, two touchdowns, and posted an average passer rating of 89.0. He also rushed nine times for 70 yards (7.77 avg) and added a rushing touchdown.

“We just got to end with touchdowns, not just settle for field goals,” Ward said this week. “There are a lot of little things on that drive that I wish I could have back, along with some other plays, just to make them better so the drive doesn’t have to be as long. We just have to keep improving on the little things.”

Stacking a third straight strong performance—and finally getting it to result in a win—would be huge for the young quarterback’s development.
