Last season, the Tennessee Titans struggled in almost every facet of the game, but their offense was especially inept. Despite having a talented duo of running backs, the team was unable to utilize them fully during the 2024 campaign.
The first problem was that quarterback Will Levis was unable to get the Titans' passing attack going, which allowed opposing defenses to key on the run. Another issue was that the team trailed in so many games that they were forced to abandon the run completely.
This is not conducive to having a successful season on the ground, however, Titans running back Tony Pollard still recorded a career high in yards last season.
Things should be much better this year for the Titans offense with rookie quarterback Cam Ward, whom the team selected No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Pollard spoke to the media on Tuesday about the young signal-caller and how he is progressing so far.
"Just the energy that (Ward) brings, wherever he is, he's gonna be himself," Pollard said. "He's gonna be a very confident guy. When you go out there and see him on the field, it makes sense why he acts the way he acts and moves the way he moves."
This is an incredible vote of confidence for Ward from a veteran player. Pollard has been in the NFL for six seasons, and he has earned both a Pro Bowl nod and played in several playoff games.
If he and Ward can continue to get on the same page ahead of the 2025 NFL season, it will only help the young rookie quarterback. In return, his strong play could help Pollard build off of his career-high 1,079-yard campaign last year.
