Todd Bowles Remains True To Self After Buccaneers Extension

Ask any key source around the NFL today, and they will all say the same thing about Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles.

You won't find a nicer person to lead your team.

Since becoming head coach of the Buccaneers in 2022, Bowles has helped lead the team to three straight division titles and a playoff win. Tampa Bay rewarded that consistency this week by announcing it was agreeing to terms with Bowles on a long-term contract extension.

"I am excited to continue working with (general manager) Jason (Licht) for years to come as we build on the success we've enjoyed and keep reaching for even bigger and better goals," Bowles said in a team statement. "My family loves Tampa and we're looking forward to delivering more great moments for our fans in the coming seasons."

Bowles' statement is a microcosm of who he is as a person. … always true to himself. Even in struggling organizations, he led with professionalism and leadership that is hard to come by in a cut-throat league like the NFL.

It's what makes him an easy man to root for.

Bowles' leadership is also a big reason why Tampa Bay has stayed afloat over the last few years despite injury concerns to some of their aging stars and changes to the quarterback position.

But there's one thing that Bowles is missing as a head coach.

A Super Bowl.

The 61-year-old has won championships as a player, executive, and assistant coach. He has yet to win one while leading the organization from the sideline, though.

This year's Buccaneers team could be his best chance to accomplish that feat. …

And put a bow on the career of one of the NFL's good guys.
