The Philadelphia Eagles secured a gritty 13-12 victory over the Buffalo Bills in Week 17 at Highmark Stadium, improving their playoff positioning in a dramatic defensive battle. Philadelphia jumped out to a 13-0 lead, with Jalen Hurts’ 1‑yard touchdown pass to Dallas Goedert and two Jake Elliott field goals giving the Eagles a commanding first‑half advantage. Through the first three quarters, the Bills were held scoreless as the Eagles’ defense consistently disrupted Buffalo’s offense.

However, the game tightened late. In the fourth quarter, Bills quarterback Josh Allen scored on a 2‑yard touchdown run, trimming the gap to 13-6 after a blocked extra point. Buffalo kept its rally alive with another short touchdown run by Allen that closed the score to 13-12. Rather than playing for overtime, the Bills went for a two‑point conversion with five seconds remaining, but Allen’s pass to Khalil Shakir fell incomplete in the end zone, sealing Philadelphia’s win.

One of the Eagles’ standout performers was cornerback Cooper DeJean, who helped anchor a defense that bent but did not break in the second half.

DeJean finished the game with nine tackles, multiple pass breakups and tight coverage on key plays that helped limit the Bills’ passing attack when it mattered most.

Among those watching DeJean’s performance from the broadcast booth was NFL legend Tom Brady, on assignment with Fox for the Eagles‑Bills game.

After the contest, Brady publicly acknowledged DeJean’s impact, awarding him the LFG (Let’s [Expletive] Go) Player of the Game for Week 17, a weekly recognition Brady gives to the player he deems most impactful.

“Today’s Player of the Week is Cooper DeJean from this incredible defense,” Brady announced after the game. “Last week you were Defensive Player of the Week, today career high in tackles, doing so well on the run game, so well on the pass game. Is there anything you can’t do, Cooper?”

DeJean’s season overall has been one of steady improvement since the Eagles drafted him 40th overall in 2024. After playing a crucial role in their title run, including a pick six on Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl, he has continued to anchor Philadelphia’s secondary. DeJean has started all 16 games this season, recording 64 solo tackles, 29 assists and two interceptions.

Philadelphia (11-5) now turns its attention to its final game of the regular season at home against the Washington Commanders (4-12), with the No. 2 seed still in play.
