Tom Brady's eldest son Jack is celebrating his 18th birthday today and the seven-time Super Bowl champion had an emotional message for him and the rest of the world to mark the occasion.
Tom and Jack have been together this week to celebrate the younger Brady's birthday. One of the most interesting things people have noticed (and joked about) was that Jack Brady is several inches taller than his 6-foot-4 father. But all kidding aside, the NFL's all-time leading passer wanted to let Jack know just how much he means to him.
"From little steps to big dreams, happy birthday Jack. You’ve always shown grace, courage, love and kindness since God blessed us with your arrival. I’m so proud of the man you are! Welcome to adulthood, it comes with higher credit card limits, bigger bills, and no curfew… OK maybe not all at once!" he wrote.
"There is a saying that a dad’s heart soars with his children’s happiness, not with his own…truer words could not be spoken. We love you so much and I know this will be your best year yet."
Before Tom Brady's well-known marriage to international supermodel Gisele Bundchen, Brady was in a relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan. Jack Brady was born in August 2007, sometime after Brady and Moynahan split up. Brady was already dating Gisele at the time of his birth.
Naturally, Jack Brady went into sports at a young age. But he isn't exclusive to football like his father was. In addition to playing football, he also plays basketball and lacrosse.
Gisele once told Vanity Fair that Jack dreamed of attending the University of Michigan - his father's alma mater.
Brady has even openly courted the Michigan Wolverines to recruit Jack for basketball since his height makes him so much better equipped for the hardwood than the gridiron.
For over a decade Brady's arch-rival in the NFL was quarterback Peyton Manning. While Manning's son Marshall isn't old enough to play football, his nephew Arch is.
Over the next few decades, if not years, we could start seeing a battle between the next generation of Manning and Brady kids to see which family has the better sports genes.
