Tom Brady endorsed selection of late-round pick

When it comes to quarterbacks, the Las Vegas Raiders have the unique opportunity to pick the brain of the best to ever play the position.

Despite adding Geno Smith in March, the Raiders know that he is only a short-term proposition. However, the Raiders have the help of the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady, who joined the organization as a minority owner in 2024. He has done everything in his power to help guide the Raiders so far, and the team knew his input would be an invaluable asset when it came to finding their quarterback of the future.

It should come as no surprise, then, that the one the Raiders ultimately selected has the Brady seal of approval.

Brady approved of the Raiders’ decision when it came time for the team to draft a quarterback.

While general manager John Spytek said that Brady steered clear of putting too much influence on the Raiders draft. he did stay in contact throughout, and was a particular fan of the team drafting North Dakota State quarterback Cam Miller in the sixth round.

“He liked the way he [Miller] threw it, his technique, throwing from the ground up and his motion,” Spytek said on Brady’s opinion of Miller, per Dan Pompei of The Athletic. “And he thought he had the potential to improve.”

The fact Miller had a glowing review from such a legendary figure as Brady is more than enough praise, and certainly played a factor in the Raiders bringing him in.

“When we are looking at quarterbacks, we’d have to be fools not to involve him,” Spytek said. “Tom is the foremost expert on quarterback play I’ve ever been around.”

Miller will get the chance to develop his game behind Smith and Aidan O’Connell, learning head coach Pete Carroll’s offense from the sideline in his rookie year. The Raiders are certainly hoping the Brady magic rubs off on Miller, as both came into the league as sixth-round picks with something to prove and no expectations to live up to. Even if Miller ends up as half of the quarterback Brady ended up becoming, that is more than enough value for such a late pick.

Getting Brady’s appraisal is one thing, but Miller now needs to show he can live up to it.
