Although Tom Brady has officially retired from the NFL for good, he continues to make headlines as both a broadcaster and minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Brady’s path to becoming a minority owner wasn’t smooth, but he was officially confirmed late last year and has already been hard at work trying to change the franchise. While Brady doesn’t have the final say over decisions or personnel, he has a massive amount of influence that owner Mark Davis, general manager John Spytek, and head coach Pete Carroll must consider.

Carroll’s hiring shocked the league as he seemed content being out of it, but the Raiders did enough to woo him to their side. Carroll brings instant credibility to the organization and should be able to help Las Vegas win more games during the 2025 season.

Las Vegas wasn’t a particularly appealing destination before, but Brady’s arrival was enough for Carroll to reconsider the job opening via Sam Robinson of Pro Football Rumors:

“Brady being approved as Raiders minority owner changed the equation for the former Jets, Patriots and Seahawks HC, who said the retired QB’s addition “shifted my thought about what this opportunity was about.””

Despite his age, it seems like Carroll couldn’t pass up an opportunity to work alongside someone like Brady:

“Set to turn 74 in September, Carroll will soon become the oldest HC in NFL history. He has a three-year deal, which is shorter than standard coaching contracts, to stabilize this Raiders operation. Brady will play a central role in Carroll’s Las Vegas tenure, being perhaps the lead figure in determining if it will work out. But the 14-year Seahawks HC agreed to join a division housing Andy Reid, Sean Payton and Jim Harbaugh due in part to Brady’s arrival.”

It remains to be seen whether Carroll is the right man for the job, considering how much the league has evolved, but there’s no denying that he’s a big-name head coach with a history of winning. There’s a lot of work left to be done, but Brady seems fully intent on doing what he can to right the ship for the Silver and Black.
