NFL legend Tom Brady was not able to catch the Seattle Seahawks’ dominant 37-9 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback was at Lambeau Field for Fox Sports’ broadcast of the “Sunday Night Football” rivalry matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears. After a hard-fought affair, Brady witnessed the Packers secure a 28-21 home win against their rivals.
Brady did not get the chance to see Sam Darnold’s heroics for Seattle as they blew out the Falcons in Atlanta. Darnold turned in another strong performance, registering 20-of-30 completed passes for 249 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He also added three carries for 23 rushing yards.
Thanks in part to Darnold’s strong play, the Seahawks were able to improve to 10-3 on the season. It was their third straight victory, which marked a significant milestone for Darnold.
Sunday’s win was Darnold’s 10th victory with the Seahawks. The Pro Bowl QB is currently in his first season with Seattle following his offseason move from the Minnesota Vikings, where he stacked up 14 wins last term.
The Seahawks took to social media on Monday to announce Darnold’s latest career milestone. With his 24th win over the past two seasons, Darnold passed Brady for the most victories by a quarterback in consecutive seasons with two different teams.
Brady’s previous record stood at 23 wins, which he achieved in 2019 (12 wins) and 2020 (11 wins) as he transitioned from the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is worth noting that Brady led the Bucs to a Super Bowl win during the 2020 season.
Darnold’s next opportunity to distance himself from the great Tom Brady will be on Sunday against the 8-5 Indianapolis Colts. Including that contest, Seattle still has four games remaining in its regular-season schedule. If the Seahawks win out, Darnold will be able to extend his record to 28 wins in two seasons.
