Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady celebrates his 44th birthday next week but nevertheless joked shortly before he earned his seventh career Super Bowl ring back in February that he planned to work on improving his speed during offseason training.
Those sessions seemingly didn't take.
In a video released Thursday that also features former teammate and wide receiver Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, Brady is seen attempting to bolster his speed rating for the upcoming "Madden NFL 22" video game.
Spoiler alert: It didn't work, but he was at least able to laugh at himself about it after the fact:
I’m so happy I just throw the football for a living… #Madden22 @EAMaddenNFL pic.twitter.com/WLeFwZocNY

One can't say for certain that leaving the New England Patriots for the Buccaneers extended Brady's career, but "Florida Tom" becoming the type of guy capable of cracking jokes about himself or a former president has been fascinating to behold.
It's also known Brady played the entire 2020 season on a fully torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee that was repaired via surgery, so maybe he'll boost his speed rating by at least one point performing on two good legs this fall.
Eh, probably not.
