Tom Brady jokes about not taking off stormtrooper helmet for practice
Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Tom Brady was in the Halloween spirit bright and early Thursday morning, and the New England Patriots quarterback even seemed to crack a joke about some helmet drama that arose for him ahead of the season.

Brady took to Instagram to share his Halloween getup for this year: A top-notch stormtrooper costume. Well, at least the helmet is pretty awesome.

Speaking of helmets, Brady jokes in the post's comment about being unable to take part in practice with his fellow New England Patriots teammates, writing, "Thursday Practice Notes: Brady (QB) - Did Not Practice - Refused to take off stormtrooper helmet."

Brady, like several other NFL players, were forced to transition to a helmet that complies with new league safety standards implemented for the 2019 season.

The Patriots signal-caller's helmet is about 25% heavier than the one he had used for his entire career, and he admitted ahead of the season to having trouble getting used to the new headgear.

Suffice to say, Brady was reluctant to part with his longstanding football helmet. It appears he feels the same way about the stormtrooper one, too, at least in a joking manner.

All that said, Brady, despite his reservations, at least feels comfortable enough with his new helmet to riff on the issue on All Hallows’ Eve.

It goes without saying that Brady’s stormtrooper helmet is outstanding, as is his Instagram game, although that’s hardly surprising on both fronts. Brady, after all, is known for not only impressing on Halloween but also boasting stellar social media skills.
