Tom Brady jokes about putting his dad 'in a home' over comments on Patriots

Everyone and their dad is talking about Tom Brady's return to New England this weekend. No really, Brady's own dad is even talking about it -- much to his son's chagrin, apparently.

Tom Brady Sr. made headlines last week when he told NBC Sports Boston his son is "vindicated" by winning a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers last season, adding to speculation that Bill Belichick and the Patriots pushed the then-43-year-old quarterback away with the intention of sending him out to pasture.

It doesn't appear those comments sat well with TB12, who read a "prepared statement" on his "Let's Go!" podcast earlier this week.

"Comments made by Thomas Edward Brady, a 77-year-old insurance company CEO who should know better at this point in his life, doesn't necessarily reflect the views or positions held by his son, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr., so furthermore should Tom Sr. continue to speak out on behalf of his son without the express written consent, Tom Jr. reserves the right to eventually put him in a home against his will," he said, via CBS Sports.

While the "statement" was meant to be a joke, it's fair to wonder if Brady isn't too stoked his dad added ammo to the ongoing post-Patriots saga.

Brady Sr.'s comments were followed up and contradicted by Belichick, who said it was the QB's choice to leave New England all along. With dueling sides of the story being made public, there has been more reminiscing about the past than there has been talking about the upcoming game.

Sure, Pats fans haven't stopped talking about Brady's departure because the team went 7-9 without him last season and missed the playoffs. But from the sound of things, Brady isn't interested in hearing that conversation anymore ... even if his own family member has something to say about it.
