Tom Brady Makes Major Decision Before Flag Football Event

Tom Brady has a lot on his plate right now and on Tuesday, he added one more item while simultaneously taking one off.

Brady officially became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders in Oct. 2024, buying a 5% stake for $220 million. His first full season with the team was an absolute failure as the Raiders finished 3–14. The only good thing is that they have secured the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Following the dismissal of head coach Pete Carroll on Jan. 5, Raiders owner Mark Davis appointed minority owner Tom Brady and GM John Spytek to lead the team's football operations.

They officially hired Klint Kubiak, the former offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks, as their head coach on Feb. 9. With the search concluded, the focus has shifted to the 2026 NFL Draft, where the Raiders hold the No. 1 overall pick.

They are widely expected to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who recently won the Heisman Trophy and led the Indiana Hoosiers to their first National Championship with a perfect 16–0 record.

While the Raiders' rebuild is firmly in motion, the seven-time Super Bowl champion also joined the JPMorgan Chase Athlete Council this week, which assembled several sports figures to address the unique financial needs of current and former athletes.

Alongside Brady, the council includes Dwyane Wade, A'ja Wilson, Jalen Brunson, Sue Bird, Alex Morgan, and Megan Rapinoe, among other big names.

"An athlete's career and earning power are unique," said Kristin Lemkau, CEO of J.P. Morgan Wealth Management. "Careers can be short and retirement unexpected. We want to develop a program by athletes for athletes."

This announcement came shortly after Brady weighed in on his flag football future. Appearing on Good Morning America to promote the Fanatics Flag Football Classic on March 21, Brady conceded it is "unlikely" he will suit up for Team USA when flag football makes its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

At the tournament this Saturday, Brady will co-captain Founders FFC with Jalen Hurts, under coach Sean Payton. They face Wildcats FFC, led by Jayden Daniels and Joe Burrow. The event was moved from Riyadh to BMO Stadium in Los Angeles because of regional conflict in the Middle East.
