Tom Brady Reveals Crucial Decision That Led to Super Bowl XLIX Win

Former quarterback Tom Brady is widely considered the greatest player in NFL history. His rare combination of personal and team success certainly helps make that claim.

In his 23 years in the league, Brady made 15 Pro Bowls, was awarded three NFL MVPs and two Offensive Player of the Year awards while also winning seven Super Bowls and being named the game's MVP five times.

Of course, you don't find this kind of success without much preparation and during an appearance on "The Herd" Brady shared a last-minute change that helped him secure the win in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks.

"I wasn't feeling great about the red area package we had,” he said. “And I went in and [offensive coordinator] Josh McDaniels is in the staff room, and I said, ‘Hey, we gotta go through the red area’…. So we installed three plays on Friday night after two weeks of preparation."

Brady continued to explain that two of those plays became extremely important, coming in the form of passing touchdowns to wide receivers Brandon LaFell in the first quarter and Danny Amendola in the fourth quarter.

Considering they won just 28-24 after cornerback Malcolm Butler's infamous interception on the one-yard line, it's hard to know if they would have won without those last-minute changes.

It's also worth noting that nearly every team struggled to make adjustements against that amazing Seahawks defense, which ranked first in points per game allowed (15.9) during the regular season.
