Tom Brady knows what it's like to win the Super Bowl more than any other quarterback in NFL history.
However, he also understands the sadness and disappointment of losing the big game. Brady went 7-3 all-time in Super Bowls, with all of his losses coming with the New England Patriots. In Brady's final Super Bowl trip, his only one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he beat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brady understands what Mahomes is feeling after losing Super Bowl 59 earlier this month. The Chiefs were routed 40-22 by the Philadelphia Eagles in a game that was even more lopsided than the score indicated.
Brady, who called the game for FOX, chronicled his day at the Super Bowl in a newly-released vlog. In it, he discussed what Mahomes is going through, based off his own personal experiences losing on the biggest stage.
"You just don't sleep for a couple of days," Brady said, via the Daily Mail. "You think it's a nightmare, you really do. You're like, 'it didn't happen, I woke up, it was a bad dream' and then you're like... it sinks in.
"And then ultimately, you get over it. I mean, acute pain, but then there's that chronic scar tissue of making it that far and then coming up short."
Brady went on to say that in all three of his Super Bowl losses--two to the New York Giants and one to the Philadelphia Eagles--he had the better team but "not that day."
After the loss, Mahomes guaranteed fans he and the Chiefs would be back in a post on X/Twitter.
He also took responsibility for the defeat when speaking with the media.
“Obviously the turnovers hurt, I take all the blame for that,” Mahomes said. “Those early turnovers swing the momentum of the game and they capitalized on them. They scored on one and they got a touchdown immediately after, so that’s 14 points I kinda gave them. It’s hard to come back from that in a Super Bowl. Just didn’t play up to my standard and I have to play better next time.”
We're expecting that he will do just that.
