Tom Brady Will Not Do This in Broadcast Booth

The old classic rock song says, "I will do anything for love, but I won't do that."

While Tom Brady's recent interview with Complex Sports may not have been about love (or Meat Loaf), Brady did reveal that there is something that he will never do in the broadcast booth.

Brady said, "I think the one position that I’m in now as a broadcaster, I do feel responsibility ... to tell the fans what I see and be honest and upfront about everything. But also realize that what these guys are doing on the field is extremely difficult."

He specifically mentioned Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes regarding criticism of his performance last season. However, he did also mention generally the other 31 quarterbacks in the league, and the hard work that they put in to master their craft.

“It’s a high level of skill. You’re looking at any of the 32 teams who have a starting quarterback out there; that guy is one of the best in the world at what he does. So, do they make the right plays all the time? Certainly not. By the way, neither did I. And I think you have to have this context and perspective." Brady said.

Who better to express and share that perspective than the seven-time Super Bowl champion, and three-time league MVP at the quarterback position Tom Brady?

He took criticism from football fans for his work in the booth this season. However, this approach of providing the context and perspective of what it takes to be successful at the position, and not criticizing the quarterbacks of the league - without the proper framework - should be applauded.
