This preseason game is special because it is a battle between the two New York teams. Yes, it was the New York Jets vs the New York Giants, and it was built as a very intriguing game. Well, it was a one-sided game where the New York Giants dominated the Jets, winning the game 31-12. Rewatching the game, five things stood out.

1. Jaxson Dart Played Very Well

Out of all the QBs that played in this game, the one that is the most intriguing to watch was Jaxson Dart. Dart played very well in this game for the New York Giants. His stats were very solid. He completed 14-of-16 passes for 137 yards and threw a touchdown. That is a great start in his development, and if he keeps it up, then the Giants may have found their franchise QB.

2 The New York Giants Really Might Have Something In Marcus Mbow

While Dart played well, it was Marcus Mbow who shone the most among the Giants’ rookies in this game. He played a majority of this game, and he was an anchor. He only allowed one pressure all game, and it was mainly due to a blitz. This kid has the qualities and skills to make an impact. He could be a starter this season with how well he has played in the preseason.

3. Braelon Allen Looked Much Better Than Breece Hall

This has been super noticeable, but Allen has played a lot better than  Hall the past few games. Allen looked more comfortable behind this New York Jets o-line than Hall did. Both had 7 carries, but it was Allen who led the team with 34 rushing yards. Now, it could be just preseason, and Hall is waiting until the regular season, but if Hall doesn’t unleash in the regular season, Allen could take the starting job.

4. The New York Jets Have To Be More Disciplined

One of the major complaints about the Jets during the Robert Saleh era was how undisciplined the whole team was. Well, after two weeks of the preseason, they are still undisciplined. The only difference is that Head Coach Aaron Glenn is trying to fix the problem, whereas in the case of Saleh, he just didn’t care. Glenn has to get this team more disciplined and stop taking dumb penalties because that killed them in this game.

5. Malachi Corley Is Definitely Getting Cut

If there was one player who needed to have a strong preseason this year, it was Malachi Corley. After all, the Jets in the 2024 NFL draft traded up to select Corley in the 3rd round, and ever since, he has been a disappointment. He was so bad that he was a healthy scratch for a chunk of last season. Well, Corley did a whole lot of nothing and only had 13 total snaps in this game. Six of them were on special teams. It’s not an if, but a when he gets cut at this point. The organization and coaching staff have seemingly lost faith in him.

Final Thoughts

While this game does not matter, watching the battle of MetLife Stadium is always an experience. This time, Giants fans were the ones having a good time. The Jets had yet another disgraceful performance. The Jets are going to have a long day at film study and practices for the next few days, and hopefully, they play like they did during their first preseason game. At least it was just the preseason.
