Fortunately for Fantasy Football, the pool of Tight Ends that can have a large impact really widened this year. There are three in particular who could score about as much as any wide receiver and plenty of other players at that position who are locks for 15 points a week. That also makes it more important than ever to rank these tight ends so players know who to target. Even as early as the second round, fantasy football players should be thinking about which tight end they want.

5. T.J. Hockenson

Hockenson hasn’t been high on too many radars after his injury last season. That being said, he is still better than the competition. Other names that could go in this slot would be Travis Kelce (who is old) or Mark Andrews (who has to compete with Isaiah Likely). On the other hand, at 28 years old, Hockenson is going to be guaranteed snaps and is still young enough to have an impact.

4. Sam LaPorta

Averaging 10 fantasy points per week wasn’t exactly what fantasy owners wanted out of Sam Laporta last year. While he only went over 100 yards once, he still got a fair slice of the targets. Jared Goff will have a lot of receivers to spread the ball around to (St. Brown, Williams, Patrick, Gibbs, etc.), but Laporta will still be a large part of this offense, and he should bounce back a bit from his last season.

3. George Kittle

Kittle turned 30 years old last season, which caused some NFL watchers to wonder if his skills would start to dip. Kittle responded to these criticisms by scoring at least 20 fantasy points in five games on the season. In fact, Kittle is in a better position now that Deebo Samuel isn’t there to soak up targets. Purdy should be looking towards Kittle more often this season.

2. Trey McBride

A lot can be said about the yards that McBride can put up per game. The big reason why he is the number 2 tight end this season is the sheer number of catches McBride gets. He had 12 catches in three separate games last year. Kyler Murray targeted McBride often when the pocket collapsed and he needed a quick read to move the chains. Since McBride has that level of reliability, he is almost guaranteed more targets this season, as well as more yards and touchdowns.

1. Brock Bowers

This is about as hot a take as saying syrup should go on pancakes, but looking at the numbers, it’s clear why Bowers should be the first drafted tight end in every draft. He scored like a wide receiver last season, with over 90 yards in six games and two games where he had 30+ fantasy points. Bowers also got an upgrade at quarterback with Geno Smith, and although they added Amari Cooper to the roster recently, Bowers will still be the number one target in Las Vegas.
