The bye weeks continue, and the injuries just keep piling up. This makes our Week 6 fantasy football waiver wire more important than ever. Whether you’re trying to continue a hot start, 0r save your season, the right additions can plug the holes and help you win this week’s matchups.
*Ownership percentages are from Yahoo
(31%) Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks – Darnold had a big game against Tampa Bay, throwing for 341 yards, 4 touchdowns, and an interception. Aside from his 1st game, Darnold has looked very solid this season, and he has another good matchup against Jacksonville this coming week.
(30%) Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins – Tua had his best performance yet, throwing for 256 yards and 3 touchdowns against Carolina. The return of Darren Waller has provided a much-needed boost to this offense, especially in the absence of Tyreek Hill (though perhaps his absence has also been refreshing in its own way). Miami is 1-4 with their backs against the wall, so expect them to continue doing everything possible to win. This, of course, should include Tua throwing the ball frequently.
(6%) Tory Horton, Seattle Seahawks – Horton now has 3 touchdowns on the season despite his limited number of targets. Although he can’t be counted on week to week, he has substantial upside and is worth rostering in deeper leagues as a stash, who at least has the potential to net you points if you have to start him.
(4%) Kendrick Bourne, San Francisco 49ers – Bourne caught 10 of his 11 targets for 142 yards against the Rams. He is the top receiving option with Jennings, Pearsall, and Aiyuk all out currently. He could be busy again this coming week, pending the status of those three.
(59%) Rico Dowdle, Carolina Panthers – Dowdle had a monstrous game against Miami, amassing 206 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. He has another good matchup coming up against the Cowboys, but it remains to be seen if Hubbard will be back for this one or how the backfield will shake out moving forward.
(39%) Michael Carter, Arizona Cardinals – Carter is now the de facto #1 running back for the Cardinals. He rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries and caught all 5 of his targets for 22 yards. He should be added everywhere he is available.
(3%) Hassan Haskins / (1%) Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Chargers – Omar Hampton is going on the IR, which leaves these two backs the next up for carries. It’s anyone’s guess who will get more, or if either will be worth scooping. That said, if you’re really hurting for running backs and there is no one else available, throwing a dart with one of these guys might pay off. Flip a coin.

(14%) Mason Taylor, New York Jets – Taylor was targeted 12 times this week, catching 9 of those for 67 yards. His targets and receptions have gone up every week so far, and he looks to be one of the top receiving options on the team, second only to Garrett Wilson.
(11%) Theo Johnson, New York Giants – That’s back-to-back touchdown games for Johnson, with 2 touchdowns in this week’s game. Johnson has been one of Jaxson Dart’s favorite targets since he took the reins, which bodes well for the tight end moving forward.
(2%) AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks – Barner caught all 7 of his targets for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns. He now has 4 touchdowns this season and seems to be a favorite red zone target for Sam Darnold. While his production will likely be volatile week to week (he didn’t have more than 3 targets or catches prior to this week), he at least has shown some pretty good upside.
(3%) Eddy Pineiro, San Francisco 49ers – Pineiro is now 11-for-11 on field goal attempts, and one of his kicks this past week was for nearly 60 yards! What’s even more impressive is that he has already done as much as he has in just four games, as he took over for Jake Moody after the first game.
(2%) Nick Folk, New York Jets – Folk is now 9-for-9 on field goals, four of which were for over 50 yards. He is a good kicker who is available in nearly all leagues.
(48%) Green Bay Packers – The Packers have a good matchup against the Bengals and are coming off their BYE, so they should be well prepared to wreak some havoc.
(17%) New England Patriots – The Pats defense has done quite well this season, forcing interceptions in four of five games so far. They have a nice matchup against the Saints this week.
