The Pittsburgh Steelers enter Week 8 at 5-2, preparing to host the Cleveland Browns in a pivotal AFC North showdown. Pittsburgh has received strong contributions from several key players on both sides of the ball, helping the team maintain its position near the top of the division. As the Steelers prepare for another important matchup, Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades offer a closer look at which players have stood out through the first seven weeks of the season.
From a resurgent secondary to a productive rushing attack, Pittsburgh has relied on several standout performers to build its early-season success. Jamel Dean has emerged as a key presence in the secondary, while the defensive line continues to make their presence felt along the defensive front. On offense, two key Steelers have helped establish a physical identity.
Here are the five highest-graded Steelers entering Week 8, according to PFF.
Dean has emerged as the CB1 of the Steelers’ defense. He has taken on some of the toughest matchups and delivered impressive results. On Sunday, he faced a familiar foe in the New Orleans Saints and used his experience to limit opposing receivers to just 37 receiving yards when targeted.
Dean has recorded four pass breakups and an interception while allowing just 63.6% of targets to result in completions. He has also made an impact by forcing three fumbles this season, adding another dimension to his defensive contributions.
Watt narrowly missed out on a signature play Sunday. He added another sack to his season total, but he arguably deserved credit for an even bigger sequence. Watt forced a fumble by Saints quarterback Tyler Shough and recovered it himself, creating a potential game-changing moment. He has gotten off to a strong start this season and remains one of Pittsburgh’s most disruptive defenders.
PFF ranks Watt as the NFL’s 10th-best edge defender. Through seven weeks, he has recorded six sacks, 20 pressures, 14 run stuffs and an interception in 2026.
Warren’s status as Pittsburgh’s highest-graded offensive player should come as no surprise. He has made a significant impact since Week 3, establishing himself as one of the offense’s most reliable playmakers. Warren has excelled as a runner while also providing quarterback Aaron Rodgers with a dependable receiving option and a valuable safety valve when plays break down.
Warren has amassed 561 rushing yards and 294 receiving yards while forcing 34 missed tackles this season. His versatility and ability to create yards after contact have made him a central component of the Steelers’ offense.
McCormick has embraced a physical, hard-nosed role in Pittsburgh’s running game and has quietly developed into an important leader along the offensive line. His work in the trenches has helped establish the Steelers’ identity as a physical offense, particularly when they commit to running the football.
According to PFF, McCormick ranks as the NFL’s 10th-highest-graded guard overall and the sixth-highest-graded run blocker among players at his position. His effectiveness in the running game has made him one of Pittsburgh’s most valuable offensive linemen.
Heyward continues to showcase the combination of strength, experience and technique that has made him one of the NFL’s most respected defensive linemen. He remains a disruptive force against the run, consistently challenges opposing quarterbacks by pushing the pocket and continues to make plays by batting down passes at the line of scrimmage.
Through seven weeks, Heyward has recorded 17 pressures, one sack, 10 run stuffs and five batted passes. His ability to contribute in multiple facets of the defense remains a major asset for Pittsburgh as it prepares for its Week 8 matchup against Cleveland.
