The 2026 NFL draft is just a month away, and the Washington Commanders will have a difficult decision to make when they're on the clock to make a selection.
The Commanders could add a top WR for the future, but they could continue to add to the defense, especially in one position that still lacks a true playmaker. Their decision just became even tougher after the top CB of the NFL Draft went viral at his Pro Day for his 40-yard dash time, and he could be the Commanders' choice with the No. 7 overall pick.
The Commanders have already been interested in CB Mansoor Delane with a top-30 visit planned before the NFL Draft, and now they have something else to talk about. The LSU Tigers held their Pro Day today, where Delane ran his 40-yard dash in front of NFL Scouts, who clocked him from an impressive 4.35 to 4.38 time.

Delane was already the top CB of the 2026 NFL Draft, but adding this to his resume makes him a lock to go top-10 as the premier CB. He measured in at 6-0, 190 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine, and his speed tracks on film when he's locking down every team's top WR.
The Commanders should hope he falls to the No. 7 overall pick, then write his name on their card, and run it up themselves just as fast as he ran at his Pro Day.
After allowing just 13 catches for 165 yards and not a single touchdown in 2025, Delane could easily be the pick for the Commanders with how the board falls. They already addressed the defensive line in free agency, and they could still take a WR with the No. 71 overall pick in the third round.
Head coach Dan Quinn said that the team needed a lockdown CB who can cover in the biggest moments before free agency started, and they still haven't added one. Amik Robertson signed with the Commanders, but he could likely play inside as a slot CB, while they add another true CB on the outside.
Mike Sainristil's struggles were too glaring last season to rely on him as a sure starting CB on the outside, even under Daronte Jones' new defense. It's been way too long since the Commanders have had a premier CB, and that streak could come to an end by drafting Delane.
