Top QB draft prospect to meet with six teams

Of the teams with top-four picks in this year's draft, only the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts have visits scheduled with Richardson. The Panthers traded up for the No. 1 pick and are in need of a quarterback. Carolina's current QB room consists of Andy Dalton, Matt Corral and Jacob Eason, though it's unlikely they take Richardson at the top spot. Many sportsbooks currently have Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud as the odds-on favorite to go to Charlotte.

The Colts could be a good fit for Richardson as well after releasing veteran quarterback Matt Ryan. With Gardner Minshew, Nick Foles and Sam Ehlinger on the roster, Indianapolis has enough flexibility to potentially "redshirt" Richardson for a year or let him play right away. However, a recent report from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN said that there is "buzz league-wide" connecting Kentucky quarterback Will Levis to the Colts instead.

The potential surprise name on Anderson's list is the Baltimore Ravens. Currently selecting at No. 22, the Ravens are the only team outside the top 11 selections who currently plan to meet with Richardson. As Baltimore and quarterback Lamar Jackson's ongoing contract disputes continue, the Ravens appear to be doing their due diligence on looking at a life post-Jackson. The Ravens would likely need to move up in order to get the chance to draft Richardson, but if Jackson signs an offer sheet elsewhere and the Ravens choose not to match it, they could get desperate enough.

Less of a surprise are the Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans. The Falcons moved on from quarterback Marcus Mariota and are expected to enter the sophomore season of Desmond Ridder; the Raiders signed Jimmy Garoppolo to a three-year deal, but it's an easy deal for the Raiders to cut the veteran if they decide to do so; the Titans are entering the final year of their current deal with veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill and could be looking toward their future.

Las Vegas, Atlanta and Tennessee all could be looking for a quarterback in the draft, but none of them are in a scramble to do so. Whether it's for insurance or youth or a lottery ticket, all three teams make sense to be in on the Richardson sweepstakes. They're also potentially in the right range, picking at No. 7, 8 and 11, respectively.

Anderson also noted one team that was left off the list: the Seattle Seahawks. Anderson said that head coach Pete Carroll has a "good connection" with Richardson but won't bring him in for an official visit. Despite an NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award-winning season from quarterback Geno Smith, the Seahawks have still been open to the idea of adding a quarterback in the draft.

Smith's contract has an out after Year 1, and Carroll was quoted saying "that opportunity is absolutely there" in regard to drafting a rookie signal caller. It's also known that the Seahawks have met with the other three major quarterback prospects, and it wasn't much of a secret either.
