Top takeaways from Chicago Bears week 6 statement win

One week after a deflating blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears went into Atlanta and took care of business.

The Bears earned a much needed victory on Sunday, beating the Atlanta Falcons 31-23 to move to a 4-2 record and are now sitting in second place in the NFC North standings.

Despite a near comeback in the fourth quarter from Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons, Chicago was able to hold on and get the job done. Here’s my top takeaways from Week 6’s huge win.

The Chicago Bears are a completely different team with Caleb Williams at the helm

The obvious biggest story from Sunday’s game was the anticipated return of star quarterback Caleb Williams. Williams was in perfect form, returning from a hamstring injury suffered in week 2.

The Bears’ quarterback was able to get the offense back on track following last week’s struggles.

Williams had an excellent 83.3 completion percentage, threw for over 300 yards, a touchdown pass, and had arguably one of his cleanest games of his career.

“The Iceman” showed he had zero rust after missing three games.

Williams showed to everyone what the Bears offense should look like with him at the helm.

Colston Loveland finally is getting involved

A key factor to Sunday’s win was head coach Ben Johnson’s usage of star tight end Colston Loveland.

Loveland has been very quiet to start the 2026 season, and his quarterback got him going right away on Sunday.

The star tight end caught the opening touchdown of the game, with a great catch in tight coverage.

Loveland finished the game with 6 receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown. The 2025 first round pick will be a key factor into the Bears’ continuing success this year.

Hopefully, this will lead to more big outings from the Bears’ top pass catcher moving forward.

What a season debut for Kyler Gordon

In my opinion, Sunday’s player of the game was none other than Kyler Gordon.

After months of uncertainty regarding his future with the Bears, the 2022 second-round pick finally made his season debut on Sunday. And what an incredible season debut it was.

Gordon was an absolute monster out there, a complete game changer against the Falcons.

In just 16 defensive snaps, Gordon had three sacks, three tackles for a loss, and two forced fumbles.

Gordon’s three sacks ties the NFL record for the most sacks in a single game from a cornerback. Truly remarkable stuff.

Gordon made the defense as a whole, a completely better unit. If Gordon can just stay healthy moving forward, Dennis Allen’s defense may have the spark they need moving forward.

This was a major bounce back win for the Chicago Bears

This was a statement win that was needed for the Bears. All three phases of the game contributed in huge ways. The offense was explosive, the defense came in clutch, and the special teams unit made plays when needed the most.

It seems last week’s awful lost lit a fire in this Bears team. Hopefully that continues to show, with the team facing the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football up next.
