Top three draft fits for USC WR Jordan Addison

Jordan Addison is one of the most electric playmakers in the 2023 NFL Draft. ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. ranks the 2021 Biletnikoff Award winner as the second-best wide receiver in the upcoming rookie class while noting that Addison "explodes off the line of scrimmage."

Teams looking for big-play potential and some extra juice on offense could target the WR during the first round when draft festivities open next Thursday. Here are Addison's three best team fits as he enters the league.

Los Angeles Chargers

ESPN's Jordan Reid earlier in April wrote that "Addison is a name to watch (at No. 21 overall). Chris Beatty, the Chargers WR coach, who has been with the team since 2021, recruited and coached Addison at Pitt."

The Chargers must add depth to their receivers room given their awful injury luck. Keenan Allen, 30, missed seven games with a hamstring injury last season and Mike Williams, 28, missed four games of his own with a sprained ankle.

This fall, the Chargers figure to emphasize their vertical passing attack after hiring offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Moore uses concepts from the Air Coryell system, which relies upon WRs who can stretch the field. Addison would be a perfect fit.

New England Patriots

Addison recently told NFL Network's Rich Eisen that his first Top-30 visit would be with the Patriots. He earlier met with New England at the scouting combine, per NBC Sports Boston.

If the Patriots selected Addison with the No. 14 pick, he could be the final piece needed to jump-start their hapless passing offense, which ranked 20th in yards last season.

Paring Addison with JuJu Smith-Schuster, another former USC Trojan, would give new Patriots OC Bill O'Brien a potent combination. A more competent wideout corps could also help quarterback Mac Jones rebound after he only threw 14 TDs this past season, tied for 23rd in the league.

New York Giants

The Giants traded with the Las Vegas Raiders for tight end Darren Waller, but the 30-year-old has missed 13 games over the past two seasons. It would be logical to pursue a more reliable pass-catching option with the No. 25 pick on Day 1 of the draft.

While New York has signed receivers Jamison Crowder and Parris Campbell in free agency, ESPN's Jordan Raanan still believes that the position represents the team's biggest hole.  Addison should be on the Giants' board, period, even with their moves in free agency.

New York QB Daniel Jones dramatically improved under new head coach Brian Daboll, posting a career-high 60.8 QBR last season — sixth in the league. His upward trajectory could continue with a bona fide No. 1 WR like Addison.
