Trade compensation finalized for the Browns from the Amari Cooper trade with the Bills

The season didn’t go as the Cleveland Browns had planned and they had to make some tough decisions due to it.

One of those decisions was trading WR Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills ahead of the trade deadline. Cooper was not fitting right in Cleveland after six games played and the Browns opted to move on.

The Browns received a third-round pick in 2025 and a seventh-round pick in 2026 for Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round pick. Now that the Buffalo Bills ended their season, the Browns now know where that pick will stand.

Cleveland will add an extra third-round pick from the Bills that will come in at No. 94 for the Browns. Cleveland’s own third-round pick sits at No. 67. Of course, the Browns own a first-round pick for the first time in three years since they traded for QB Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans.

The Browns own nine draft picks in April and will receive another two more picks through the compensatory method. Cleveland will have the ability to move up in the draft if they wish to.

Trading Cooper opened up room for WR Jerry Jeudy to step up big for the Browns and be the top-notch wideout they knew he could be. Jeudy posted 1,229 receiving yards and four touchdowns with Cleveland in 2024. Cleveland traded for him from the Denver Broncos with the exact scenario in mind that he would be able to step into a bigger role.

Cooper was set to be gone at the end of the year anyway and the Browns were playing in a lost season. Adding a top-100 pick for a player that wasn’t sticking around was a plus move by Cleveland.
