Trade wishlist would right the wrong of Eagles' whiff of Bryce Huff signing

With the weight of the Bryce Huff signing off of their backs, the Philadelphia Eagles can finally breathe and be able to make any move they want.

Last week's trade of Huff to the San Francisco 49ers freed up an extra $15 million in cap space. After June 1, that opened it up to about $27 million in total cap space for the Eagles to spend. This gives them the flexibility to sign a veteran free agent or make a trade for a player if they want.

The possibilities are now endless for the Eagles to make whatever move will help the roster. Maybe finding Huff's replacement on the trade market would do?

Analyst proposes trade that would make Eagles general manager Howie Roseman a genius....again

NFL.com analyst Marc Ross was one of the seven members of the website what trade they want to see happen before the 2025 season. Ross wants to see Eagles general manager Howie Roseman cook and trade for Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson.

"The Eagles dominated the Chiefs in the Super Bowl with a relentless pass rush, but Philadelphia has questions on that front heading into the 2025 campaign, given the loss of Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith's injury and the inherent need for young guys like Moro Ojomo (2023 seventh-round pick) and Jalyx Hunt (2024 third-rounder) to level up. General manager Howie Roseman hit big on the trade for wide receiver A.J. Brown in 2022. Trading for Hendrickson, who's in a contract standoff with the Bengals, could provide a similar effect for the defense. Plus, the Eagles just cleared more cap space by dealing Huff. This would be a case of the rich getting richer -- and a move I wouldn't put past Philly."

Hendrickson has made the Pro Bowl four consecutive years and was an AP first-team All-Pro selection last year. He's had back-to-back seasons with 17.5 sacks and have eclipsed at least 10 sacks in four of the last five seasons.

The 30-year-old defensive lineman is in the final year of his contract as the Bengals are expected to take a cap hit north of $18 million. Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Myles Garrett is the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL, averaging $40 million per year, which is where Hendrickson will need to be.

It would be a steep price for the Eagles to spend on a lineman who just hit his 30s, but Hendrickson is not the typical defensive lineman. He instantly makes the Eagles dangerous off the edge with Smith and Hendrickson off the edge. It would allow Hunt to develop and learn from the best in the game.

A deal like this would command a first-round pick from the Eagles, which they would be willing to part with. Philadelphia currently has 10 draft picks and an additional three compensatory picks in the 2026 NFL Draft and could offload some of those in the deal.

The Eagles have never been shy about making a trade when they know they get a home run hitter right off the bat to win a Super Bowl. A call from Roseman wouldn't hurt just to see what the Bengals want for Hendrickson.
