Travis Hunter Makes His Feelings Clear About $46 Million Rookie Contract

The star rookie opened up about signing a record-breaking deal in an interview with Brian Sexton. 

"It feels great. I'm very excited, ready to get to work," Hunter said. 

Hunter added that he hasn't been running at full speed yet. He is trying to be himself and getting the work done since his arrival in mid-May. The rookie is excited to be at the Jaguars, where they allow him to do what he does.

The 2024 Heisman trophy winner plans to go on a trip with his friends during his time off, but will continue to put in work to prepare himself for the training camp. 

"You just got to put work in. Don't let anybody stop the grind and don't get too sick of the process.... I have been grinding my whole life," Hunter said about what it takes to be successful at the big stage. 

Hunter kept both wide receiver duties during his high school and college days, and he will continue to have a dual role in the NFL as well. He has been putting in work both defensively and offensively in the training sessions.

He charted 96 passes for 1,258 yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions in his final year with the Buffaloes. The Jaguars' WR and CB would hope to replicate similar or drop even better performance in the league.

 The Jaguars have given up on a lot of draft capital, including their 2026 NFL Draft's first-round pick, to trade up and land him on their roster. Hunter is aware of what fans and management expect from him.
