Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, made history after signing a four-year, $46.6 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Hunter, known for his versatility as a receiver and cornerback at Colorado and Jackson State, was the last top 10 pick from the 2025 NFL Draft to sign his contract

The Jaguars traded up three spots with the Cleveland Browns to select him, giving the Browns draft picks Nos. 5, 36 and 126, and a first-round selection in 2026.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hunter’s contract was historic, making him the first non-quarterback not selected No. 1 overall to receive his entire signing bonus upfront, rather than in installments as is typical in the NFL.

"Travis Hunter officially signed his four-year, $46.65 million fully guaranteed contract," reported Schefter on X. "His $30.57 million signing bonus, paid entirely upfront, sets a new record — making him the first non-quarterback not drafted first overall to receive his entire signing bonus upfront. The deal was negotiated by Adie von Gontard and Ray Haija of Young Money APAA Sports."

As with all first-round draft picks, his deal includes a club option for a fifth year.

Hunter finished his career at Colorado with 153 receptions for 1,979 yards and 21 total touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 67 tackles, 48 solo and three for loss, along with seven interceptions for 55 yards, 16 pass breakups, and one forced fumble. The Jaguars have indicated he will play both offense and defense, just as he did at Colorado.

Jacksonville will open the 2025 NFL season on Sept. 7 against the Carolina Panthers.
