Travis Hunter Update Emerges After Jaguars' Trade Decision

The Jacksonville Jaguars moved to 5-3 on the season after the team's 30-29 overtime Week 9 win, which they secured without rookie two-way star Travis Hunter. Selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Hunter suffered a non-contact knee injury that led to him being placed on the injured reserve. Hunter, 22, has racked up 28 catches for 298 yards and a touchdown on offense, while totaling 15 tackles and three pass deflections on defense.

While he seemed to be making a push to surpass Brian Thomas Jr. as the team's top receiver, Hunter will be forced to at least three more games as a result of being placed on the IR. With that being said, the Jaguars made a trade on Tuesday that should take some pressure off of Hunter and Thomas. As revealed by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Jags acquired Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers in exchange for fourth and sixth-round picks ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

In addition to breaking the trade, Rapoport also provided a bit of insight into the status of Hunter's injury, and his role with the offense moving forward.

"Travis Hunter is not expected to be out long-term for the #Jaguars, though he is out at least 3 more games," Rapoport wrote. "He'll be back to contribute in the pass game, as well."

The earliest that the 2024 Heisman winner at Colorado can return is Nov. 30, when the team takes a trip to Nashville for a matchup with the Tennessee Titans.
