Travis Hunter is expected to be joined by his dad, Travis Hunter Sr., at the NFL draft in Green Bay, Wis., but his father's attendance at the event was not a sure thing. In addition to his father, Travis' mom, Ferrante Harris, is a major part of the two-way star's life.
The Palm Beach Post's Tom D'Angelo reported that Travis Sr. needed approval to travel to Green Bay for the draft as he continues to be on probation for a September 2024 legal issue.
"Hunter Sr., 39, was sentenced to 90 days in late September 2024 stemming from a 2023 arrest on gun and drug charges," The Palm Beach Post detailed on April 22. "He was released from the Palm Beach County West Detention Center in Belle Glade nine days before the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York but was unable to attend.
"He was placed on a three-year period of probation and ordered to complete the first year under home confinement."
After winning the Heisman Trophy, Travis gave his father a shoutout during his acceptance speech. Now, Travis Sr. will be able to witness his son's special moment in person.

"And I want to say something to my father," Travis noted during the Dec. 14, 2024, speech. "He's not here (was not) able to make it, but I know you're watching on TV. Dad, I love you.
"All the stuff you went through, man, now look at your oldest son. I did it for you, man. All the times that you didn't get to see me, and the times you came to see my games," Travis continued.
"From not seeing probably two games in high school to seeing me on TV every weekend and coming to see me, man. That means so much to me."

Hunter Sr.'s trip to Green Bay is a bit complicated. Travis' father faces certain restrictions in Wisconsin, including strict guidelines on only attending the draft.
"While in Green Bay, Hunter Sr. is restricted to the grounds of the hotel other than attending the draft, which will be held at Lambeau Field," The Palm Beach Post's report added. "He was required to submit a full travel itinerary and schedule to his community control officer."
