The Kansas City Chiefs dropped to 5-5 with a 22-19 loss on the road against the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos moved to 9-2 and have now taken a two-game lead in the AFC West standings with the Los Angeles Chargers dropping to 7-4 after Sunday's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Chiefs battled hard, but Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning 35-yard field goal just minutes after nailing the game-tying 54-yard field goal.
It was a tough loss for Kansas City, which has plenty of work to do in order to get into the playoffs.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 276 yards with one touchdown and an interception. Tight end Travis Kelce led the way with nine receptions for 91 yards and a score on 13 targets.
In the fourth quarter, Kelce caught a 21-yard pass from Mahomes to give Kansas City a 19-16 lead.
In turn, that moved him past running back Priest Holmes for the franchise lead in career touchdowns with 84.
The Chiefs announced the record on social media, calling him "the best TE ever."
After the game, Kelce didn't want to talk about that one bit.
“If you’re going to ask me about the record, I could care less about that right now," Kelce said, via The Athletic's James Palmer.
Travis Kelce respectfully declined to talk post game. “If you’re going to ask me about the record, I could care less about that right now.” Obviously where things stands with the win loss record is more important to Kelce.

Despite breaking the franchise record, Kelce didn't seem too thrilled at the moment.
It is the second straight loss for Kansas City, and it drops them below the Jaguars in the AFC playoff picture.
For a team so used to being in Super Bowls, missing the playoffs would be an extremely disappointing year, so Kelce is more worried about winning football games than setting personal milestones.
The Chiefs have a tough road ahead in the next two weeks with games against the AFC South leader Indianapolis Colts (8-2) and Dallas Cowboys (3-5-1) whose total offense rank third in the NFL.
While Kelce made history, the future Hall of Famer isn't worried about that one bit, at least not right now.
