It's been a down year for both Patrick Mahomes and his star tight end Travis Kelce. While it hasn't stopped them from winning games, the two are both on pace for some of the worst seasons of their career, and Kelce is understandably upset.
On the newest episode of the New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, Travis Kelce admitted that he's just "not on the same page" with his MVP quarterback. He said that it's been frustrating for him.
“I’m just not on the same page as Pat,” he said. “It can get frustrating. It can get (expletive) frustrating. That’s for damn sure.”
Kelce feels that touchdowns in particular have left him scratching his head in search of answers.
“Where I take a lot of pride is once we get in that red zone, man,” he said. “Once we get in that red zone, man, I get a little hungrier and right now, for whatever reason this year, I just can’t find my way in the end zone.”

The proof is certainly in the pudding. Kelce has 75 receptions for 637 yards and two touchdowns this season. He's on pace for the fewest touchdowns and lowest yards per game of his career.
Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 2,979 yards and 19 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He's on pace for his lowest touchdown and yards per game rate while approaching a career-high in interceptions.
Kelce even admitted that the Buffalo Bills who beat them and the Las Vegas Raiders who nearly beat them were able to do a good job of figuring them out.
“They had a good understanding of what we were trying to do and how to stop us and how to slow us down," he said. “They eliminated a lot of the big-time plays that we had. On top of that, keep us out of the end zone. That was the biggest thing for me.”
The good news for the Chiefs is that they still have a commanding lead in the AFC West title race and a reasonably good chance of being the top seed in the AFC if they can just outpace the Buffalo Bills.
Will these issues remain a problem for Mahomes and Kelce the rest of the way?
