Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs couldn't get it done in Week 9, dropping to 5-4 on the 2025 NFL season after a 28-21 loss on the road against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. This also marked the first time the Chiefs faced the Bills since defeating them in the AFC Championship last season.

Through the first eight games of his 13th NFL season, Kelce has remained Patrick Mahomes' favorite target. The former Cincinnati Bearcats tight end had tallied team-highs of 37 catches and 474 yards, adding three touchdowns as well, still proving he can make an impact at 36 years old. However, Kelce gave everyone a scare after leaving Chiefs vs. Bills early.

With fewer than 10 seconds remaining in the first half, the Chiefs had the ball at the Buffalo 1-yard line, looking to cut into their deficit. Kansas City ultimately settled for a field goal after Mahomes’ pass to Kelce in the end zone fell incomplete on 3rd-and-goal. The tight end, however, took the worst of the play, absorbing a hard hit to the chest from Bills safety Cole Bishop.

Kelce left the field with three seconds remaining in the first half, heading to the locker room ahead of his teammates as fans grew concerned about a possible injury, particularly to his ribs. While no chest injury was reported, Kelce was evaluated for a possible concussion. However, he was quick to clear the concussion protocol, rejoining the game to begin the second half.

"The Chiefs say Travis Kelce cleared concussion protocol," Kansas City Star's Pete Sweeney wrote on X.

After a bye in Week 10, Kelce and the Chiefs will be back in action in Week 11, remaining on the road to face Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos.
