Travis Kelce showed flashes of brilliance on Thursday night as he tried to lift the Kansas City Chiefs to victory in their Christmas Day matchup against the Denver Broncos . The four-time All-Pro tight end caught five passes for a team-high 36 yards after being targeted six times by third-string quarterback Chris Oladokun.

It wasn’t enough for the Chiefs, though, as they suffered a 20-13 loss to their AFC West rivals, marking Kansas City’s fifth straight loss. It was a bitter way to end their home campaign for Kelce and Co., who played their last game of the season at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night.

The Chiefs dropped to 6-10 after Thursday’s loss. It was their second-to-last game of the season and their final one at home for 2025. Kansas City’s next contest will be on the road as it closes out its campaign at Allegiant Stadium against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 18.

Kelce made a bit of history in his final home game of the season. The 10-time Pro Bowler recorded his 531st catch in Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday against Denver, which, according to Prime Video’s broadcast of the Christmas Day game, is tied for fourth-most by a player at one venue all-time.

Kelce seriously considered retirement in the offseason before deciding to play out the final year of his current contract with the Chiefs. There has been a lot of talk about Kelce possibly hanging it up at the end of this campaign. If this is the case, then Thursday’s game would have been his last at Arrowhead Stadium.

For what it’s worth, Kelce played down the retirement talk after the loss. He said that his focus has been on winning games, and that he will revisit his looming retirement decision “when the time comes.”

Kelce is widely regarded as a future Hall of Famer. In 13 years in the NFL, the three-time Super Bowl champion has amassed 1,077 catches for 12,990 yards and 84 touchdowns. He also holds multiple NFL and Chiefs records, including the most career touchdowns in franchise history.
