It started with shared dominance at the tight end position. It became something more through their passion to share their expertise with others.

In 2021, George Kittle, Travis Kelce, and Greg Olsen teamed up to launch Tight End University, an offseason summit for the game’s best and brightest at the position. The event—often referred to as Tight End U—has evolved into a must-attend experience for elite players and rising stars alike.

For Kittle and Kelce, TEU has also become an annual reunion that represents more than just football. In a recent interview with CBS Sports, Kittle took a moment to reflect on his friendship with Kelce and served up a heartfelt yet hilarious tribute to one of his closest friends in football.

"I love Travis. One of my favorite people. Couldn't be a nicer person. He's always treated me with the most respect, the most kindness. Anytime that we get together, we have a fantastic time.

Gotta love hearing about the bromance between George Kittle and Travis Kelce.

"We both call Greg Olson 'dad', just for fun, because he's the biggest dad and he's the biggest coach of all time. You should see him out on the field at Tight End U. He coaches us like we're Peewee football players. It's hilarious. And everybody just wants to listen to him. So he's just—he's a fantastic human being, and he just happens to also be a fantastic football player.

"So love hanging out with him. It's always great to see him for this kind of block before the season starts, where we kind of all just throw a couple of Bud Lights back, enjoy ourselves, spray with some Old Spice, smell pretty good, get some more sponsors in there somehow. And just overall, enjoy our week. That's awesome, man."

Kittle and Kelce have set the standard for tight end play over the last decade, redefining the position with their dominant production.

Kelce enters the 2025 season with 907 career receptions, 11,328 yards, and 74 touchdowns, which are all franchise records for the Chiefs. He’s also a nine-time Pro Bowler, a four-time First-Team All-Pro, and a three-time Super Bowl champion—a player who is arguably the greatest to ever play tight end.

Kittle has carved out an impressive resume of his own. A five-time Pro Bowler, Kittle has amassed 460 receptions for 6,274 yards and 37 touchdowns since entering the league with the 49ers in 2017. He’s known as one of the best blockers at the position and might be the most well-rounded TE in the NFL.

Fortunately for the NFL's other tight ends, the pair is keen to pass along their knowledge to those willing to engage. And it sounds like there's a lot in it for the mentors as well.
