Travis Kelce just gave the Chiefs a vintage performance and it changes

Slowly but surely, things are looking up for the Kansas City Chiefs. More specifically, Travis Kelce has kicked it into high gear following a quiet start to the 2025 NFL campaign by his lofty standards.

Chiefs Kingdom knows that the three-time reigning AFC champions are at their peak when Kelce is firing on all cylinders. But as Father Time catches up to the future Hall of Fame tight end, seeing his dominant outings is becoming few and far between. However, we still get glimpses of the glory days from him, as illustrated by Kansas City's 30-17 Week 6 win over the Detroit Lions.

Kelce had his top performance of the year thus far against the Lions on Sunday Night Football, looking like the legend fans know and love. He secured six of seven targets for a season-high 78 yards, operating as the clear-cut focal point of Kansas City's passing attack. Uncoincidentally, the Chiefs had arguably their most well-rounded offensive showing en route to taking down a high-powered Detroit squad in a two-score victory.

Travis Kelce anchored the passing game in an important win on Sunday Night Football.

During a postgame interview with ESPN's Scott Van Pelt after the Chiefs beat the Lions to advance to 3-3, Kelce spoke about the offensive momentum, while pointing to better things to come from all parties involved, with wideout Rashee Rice returning from a suspension in Week 7.

"Dan Campbell's kind of toughness is ingrained in that defense and offense. We were fired up to get to experience that challenge this week. Coach Reid did a great job of getting these guys ready. We went out there and put up a 30 ball on that defense. That's not an easy thing to do, man."

No other member of the Chiefs drew more than four looks or exceeded as many catches as Kelce's totals. Wide receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquise "Hollywood Brown" had a couple of big gains, though Kelce was the chain-moving security blanket he's become famous for.

Turning 36 has ostensibly done wonders for Kelce, who has recorded back-to-back strong contests since his birthday on Oct. 5. He followed up posting single-game best utilization in the Chiefs' primetime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars by topping the production versus Detroit. Let's see if the 10-time Pro Bowler can carry the momentum forward when Kansas City hosts the Las Vegas Raiders next, whom he's historically crushed.
